The first French woman to join Femen, Éloïse Bouton was an activist for two years within this radical organization from Ukraine. Team or solo actions, police custody, trials, verbal and physical assaults, media overexposure—Éloïse experienced it all during this period of total commitment to a movement that generates both enthusiasm among thousands of young women and violent controversies.

In this book written with a breathless and stripped-down style, Éloïse Bouton, a professional journalist, decided to hide nothing from readers about Femen: Why is nudity a powerful political tool? Who funds the organization? Are there castings to select attractive women to draw cameras? How did the far right target her by accusing her of being “a feminist by day and an escort by night,” and why didn’t her fellow activists support her through this ordeal? In its internal functioning, does Femen resemble a cult with the highly charismatic Inna, the movement’s founder, as its guru?

Having left the group in February 2014, Éloïse Bouton continues the feminist fight differently, without denying any of these commando actions that turned her life upside down.
