Contre Coups – The Compilation Against Violence Against Women
The Contre Coups project brings together 12 female artists who sing against violence against women.

Every year in France, 216,000 women aged 18 to 75 are victims of physical and/or sexual violence from their former or current partner, and 86,000 women are victims of rape or attempted rape—one woman raped every forty minutes.
In 2014, 134 women were killed by their partner or ex-partner. In 2008, France had approximately 60,000 women victims of female genital mutilation, one-third of which was perpetrated on French territory. 8 out of 10 women with disabilities are victims of violence.
Approximately 80% of women report regularly facing sexism in the workplace.
In France, the economic and social cost of violence against women is estimated at 2.5 billion euros per year.

Released on November 25, 2015, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, this digital compilation of 12 eclectic tracks (rock, electro, rap, pop, variety, folk…) is available online on Bandcamp. All proceeds are donated to the Institut en Santé Génésique (now renamed Women Safe), a center based in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines), which welcomes and supports women victims of all forms of violence (psychological harassment, rape, incest, domestic violence, workplace harassment, FGM…)
Directed by Frédérique Martz and sponsored by Florence Foresti, this center operates entirely with volunteers. Its co-founder, Dr. Pierre Foldès, has already operated on more than 6,000 victims of genital mutilation.
